The virtual classroom is the heart of online degree programs—a convenient, central place where your university courses unfold. Although there are many fundamental similarities between a traditional campus-based education and the online university experience, learning through a virtual classroom offers many benefits that traditional college degree programs don’t provide. Read more to find out which ones made our list of top benefits.
Dr. Smith, leading middle-schoolers from her classroom in Bradenton, Florida, and teaching graduate-level students at Walden University, likens teacher burnout to "a flame that has been extinguished." Drawing on her 30+ years as an educator, Dr. Smith offers five ideas educators can use to help keep them from becoming teacher burnout statistics.
Apologizing is both an Art and a Science. The Science is the list of elements that when merged will form the “perfect” apology. The Art, on the other hand, deals with the surrounding components, that make an apology more relevant, effective and successful.
If you’ve made the decision to earn your degree online, you may be wondering how you’ll keep up with your education while balancing work and family commitments. Time management is an important place to start. In this webinar, hear from Walden graduate, Dr. Sherece Shavel, as she discusses tips and tools you will need to complete your assignments, and discover new ways to stay organized and work more efficiently.
Today’s diverse workforce has great potential for high performance. To make the most of that potential, a performance management system grounded in respectful communication and collaboration for all employees is critical. Through practical examples, this webinar will examine a performance management system that addresses the need for structure within a culture of creativity and innovation.
The Partnership for 21st Century Learning, a national advocacy organization for education, has identified the "Four C's"—critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity—as essential aspects of a K–12 curriculum. This webinar will introduce participants to the Four C’s and share ideas and resources that early childhood educators can use to incorporate the Four C’s into their curriculum and classroom practices.
Many teachers need to contribute extra resources to their classrooms to provide students with a quality education. Typically, teachers in underserved schools need to provide the most resources to fund their classrooms and have the smallest fundraising opportunities compared to teachers in high-income areas. It’s neither sustainable nor fair to expect teachers to fund their classrooms through their own income. Today, there are a number of online fundraising platforms to help educators’ market and support their classrooms in an efficient way with the broadest reach. Kelly Carideo, Principal of Beechfield Elementary / Middle School and Val Taylor, Office of the President, Walden University, will discuss how educators can use technology and other fundraising strategies to successfully market their classrooms and provide their students with the best learning experience possible.
In this session, LaQueshia Jeffries, Lauren Snider Thompson and Dr. Kisha Walker discuss teacher burnout; the causes and progression, the effects on teachers, their students and schools as more teachers leave the profession due to overwork, lack of resources and support. Our speakers will have an open dialog about developing resilience and growth mindset, supportive school environments and what can be done at the institutional level to address this pressing issue in American education. Our speakers will provide concrete tips for our audience to take back to their teaching practices.
